About

CatSAT- Cat Surveying and Analysis Tools- is a new APP where communities are mapping the location and impacts of domestic cats across the country. Australia's native fauna are and your help is needed to record where you see cats and in your local area. The app will also allow you to record what prey they bring home. Get your cameras and phones ready, we need your photos!!

If you see a cat in your neighbourhood, enter the location of your sighting in this APP. Your sightings will help land managers to track the movement and behaviour of cats.

Start mapping now! Click the 'Signup' link above. Alternatively, if you don't think you will be regularly participating, then click the appropriate survey and fill out all the fields.

More Info

There are two aspects to CatSAT and both relate to assessing the impact and behaviour of domestic cats.

The CatPrez survey, allows people to easily record those little lizard, bird or mammal (anything really) 'presents'that fluffy brings home. You can upload a photo direct from their phone.

The CatWatch survey is primarily focused on people taking photos of cats in their yard or neighbourhood. This will allow us to identify them and look at their home range or activity patterns.

When people signup, you can upload a photo of your own cats so that we can relate any of their activity back to their 'central base'.

Unlike TurtleSAT, we are not going to have a public map. The surveys will use mobile apps and GPS technology, but cats are a sensitive issue and we don't want people or homes or the cats identified on a map. The data will lend itself to powerful GIS modelling and this (eg. Kernel density hotspot maps) is how we will provide feedback. They are a great visual communication tool.

There is a Troubleshooting tool if you are having trouble with the site finding your location on the map.
